About Havanese
The Havanese is Cuba's only native breed, descended from Bichon-type dogs brought over by Spanish colonists and beloved by Cuban aristocracy for generations. The breed nearly disappeared after the Cuban Revolution, when families fleeing the island carried just a handful of dogs with them, dogs that became the foundation of every Havanese in the US today.
